Educational Visits.

The ideal way for a child to learn an important part of Swansea Railway History

Schools and Educational Institutions.
We take great pride in our Educational Visits to our Railway. The visits are geared to
the age of the group at the time.
For the younger generation, this is an ideal way to demonstrate a working railway and
also see the work carried out by the Swansea Vale Railway Society.
The visit will include an hour on the train, traveling the length of the preserved line,and
a talk by one or more of our staff on the history of the railway over the past 100 years and concluding with an informative talk on the activities of the Swansea Vale Railway Societies Volunteer group.

In the not too distant future, it is our intention to have guided tours of the locomotive
work shop and sidings where locomotives, coaches and wagons will be seen in various
stages of restoration.

Please make your booking at least 10 days before your visit.
Seating for at least 120 with onboard toilet facilities.
Teachers and up to 4 helpers free.
Train running time between 13.00 pm and 14.00 pm.

Party Bookings a specialty

If you are looking for a very different venue for that special birthday, society or corporate meeting, look no further.
You can hire our Diesel Multiple Unit for that special event, it has seating capacity for 120 guests, with onboard toilet facilities. There is a reception area with tea and coffee making facilities, with tables and a counter to accommodate your food and drinks.
The train will be available 15 min's. before your guests arrive at 12.00 noon for you to prepare the train for your big event.

The Booking of the train is available for 4 hours, from 12.00 noon till 16.00 pm.
Finally,the guard will be in control of the train at all times, and it is only the organizer of the event who can request the movement of the train via the guard.
